OBITUARY

HUTCHINSON Funeral services were held Monday at 1:00 pm in the Larson funeral home, Milan, and at 2:00 pm in the St John's Episcopal church, Preemption, for William J Hutchinson, age 78, of Rock Island, retired Bowling farmer. Mr Hutchinson past away at 12:30 pm June 18 in St Anthony's hospital after an illness of about two years. The Right Rev William L Essex, bishop of the diocese of Quincy, officiated, assisted by Rev Charles T Gaskell, rector of Trinity Episcopal church, Rock Island. Burial was in Preemption Cemetery. Mr Hutchinson was born Sep 16, 1875, in Bowling, a son of Samuel and Mary Hutchinson. He attended Bowling Center and Reynolds High Schools. He was married Sep 25, 1934 to Ethel C Johnston in Rock Island. He was a member of the Farm Bureau, Modern Woodman of America, the Orangemen's Lodge of Preemption, and the Moose Lodge of Rock Island. He was a member of St John's Episcopal church and served as senior warden for many years. He had been a general insurance agent for the past 25 years and had been engaged in farming until his retirement in 1947 when he moved to Rock Island. He is survived by the widow and a nephew William C Hall, of Des Moines, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and three sisters.
