OBITUARY DEATHS

HUTCHINSON - Mary Johnston, daughter of Joseph and Susan Johnston, was born in county Fermanagh, Ireland, on Jan 25, 1842. She was baptized in infancy and later was confirmed in Adram See Episcopal church in her native land. At the age of 18 she came to America and located in the town of Bowling where she lived till death. In the year of 1861 she was united in marriage to Samuel Hutchinson and to them were born eight children, five sons and three daughters. Death entered the home from time to time and took away John, Samuel, Elizabeth and Susanna in childhood. On Dec 16, 1878, the husband and father past away. The responsibility thrown upon her at this time was no small burden but she met the emergency bravely and those who knew her best realize how well she performed her tasks. Sorrow again entered the home when the oldest son, Robert, was taken away at the age of 16. And on Aug 4, 1907, a daughter, Mrs Jennie Hall, past away. Her parents; one brother, Francis Johnston; and two sisters, Miss Elizabeth Johnston and Mrs Rachel Clarke, also preceded her in death. Mrs Hutchinson retired from active life about five years ago and had since made her home with her two sons, Joseph and William, who, with one grandson, Cecil Hall, of Montezuma, Iowa, survive her. While for several years she had been in declining health, she kept about the house till last Friday morning when she was strickened with a cerebral hemorrhage. She became unconscious and past peacefully into the sleep of death on Saturday evening, June 24, aged 80 years and five months. Funeral service, conducted by Rev A H Head, were held at St John's church at 2 pm on Monday. Interment was made in the Preemption cemetery, Among the Iowa people who came to attend the funeral were George and Thomas Hutchinson of Deloit, and Joseph Hutchinson, wife and son, William Hutchinson, wife and son, Miss Mary E Hutchinson, Thomas Hicks, Mrs Frank Johnston and daughter, James C Johnston, Cecil Hall, Samuel Hall and wife and George F Johnston all of Montezuma.
