OBITUARIES KENNETH INGHRAM HUTCHINSON

Kenneth Inghram Hutchinson was born on a farm in Milford Township, Crawford County, Iowa, September 18, 1917, the only child of George Marion and Frances Myrtle Inghram Hutchinson. He was raised on the farm and received his education in the Milford Center School before being graduated as Valedictorian from the Denison High School with the Class of 1934. He furthered his education at Iowa State University, where he was a member of Delta Sigma Phi fraternity and was graduated with honors in 1939. Upon graduation he returned to farm in Milford Township.

On June 4, 1941, Kenneth was united in marriage with Mildred Ruth Crane at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Their union was blessed with five children, Kenneth E, Keith, Nancy, Kerry and Cherith. They farmed in Milford Township northeast of Denison, moving to their present farm in 1952. Kenneth took great pride in farming and was an avid practitioner of conservation methods to preserve the land for future generations. He raised Aberdeen Angus cattle and grew corn, soybeans, and other crops. Kenneth retired in 1982 but continued to reside on the farm. He maintained an active interest in the farm operations and particularly, enjoyed mowing the lawn, pruning the trees, and other yard work, Kenneth's greatest love in life was his family. He especially enjoyed raising their children and spending time with the grandchildren and with Milly's family.

He was an active member of the United Presbyterian Church in Vail where he had served as an Elder, Deacon and Clerk of the Session. For several years he served as a Director of the Federal Land Bank and from 1951 until his death he served on the Board of Directors of the Crawford County Trust and Savings Bank in Denison.

Kenneth died Wednesday morning, April 1, 1998 at St Joseph Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. At the time of his death he had attained the age of 80 years, 6 months and 13 days.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Those who remain to cherish his memory include his wife of over 56 years, Milly Hutchinson of rural Denison; five children. Kenneth E Hutchinson of San Jose, California; Keith Hutchinson and his wife, Glenda, of Lancaster, Texas; Nancy Hutchinson of Evansville, Indiana, Kerry Hutchinson of Roselle Park, New Jersey; Cherith and husband, Joseph Thelen, of rural Denison; seven grandchildren, Jeff Hutchinson of Richmond, Virginia, Ken Hutchinson attending Texas A&M University, Andria Hutchinson of White Plains, New York, and Christopher, Andy, Melissa and Danny Thelen of rural Denison; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, April 4, 1998 at the United Presbyterian Church, Vail, Iowa, with the Rev Sue Babovec officiating. Music for the service included soloist, Glenn Freese, singing "How Great Thou Art" and "In The Garden" and the congregation singing "Amazing Grace" and "He Leadeth Me". Kevin Freese served as organist. Casket bearers included Frank Hawley, Henry Olson, LeRoy Childress, Terry Prickett, Roger Dreeszen and Glenn Schultz. Interment was in the Oakland Cemetery in Denison, Iowa. The Pfannebecker Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of the arrangements.
