Event | OBITUARY October 2, 1930 (6 days after death)JOHN W JOHNSTON John W Johnston was born August 2, 1866 in county Farmanna, Ireland. In 1869 Mr Johnston immigrated to Illinois with his parents. Later they located in Iowa where, at his home in Lake City, he died on September 26, 1930, aged 64 years, 1 month and 24 days. He was united in marriage to Angeline Hulett, January 11, 1892. To this union six children were born. He leaves to mourn his departure, his beloved wife; three sons, Floyd and Marion of Lake City, Joe of Sac City; one daughter, Mrs Vera Beck of Bakersfield, Calif; six brothers and three sisters; Robert, Henry, Sam and George of Lake City and Joseph and Thomas of Glidden, and Mrs Ira M Hulett, and Mrs A A Gross of Des Moines, and Mrs J H Wood of Lake City; thirteen grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends. One son, Everett, and a daughter, Mrs Vava Pope, preceded their father in death. Mr Johnston was baptized in the Episcopalian church. He was a loyal citizen, a kind father and affectionate husband. All the brothers, sisters, children and grandchildren were present for the funeral services which were held in the Woodlawn Church of Christ Sunday, September 28, at 2:30 pm, the Rev Roy B Weaklend, pastor of the church, officiating.
