Funeral services were conducted from the Methodist church Monday afternoon at 1:00 o'clock with the Rev A H Barker in charge. Interment was in Montezuma cemetery. The following obituary was read at the service: "Weep not that his toils are over, Weep not that his race is run. God grant we may rest as calmly, When our work, like his is done." William Hutchinson, son of John and Mary A Hutchinson, was born in Rock Island County, Illinois December 20, 1867. At the age of five years he came to Poweshiek County with his parents in 1872. The family consisted of nine children. They settled in Scott township where he attended the public school and grew to manhood. He was baptized in the Episcopal church in Illinois and later attended the Methodist church in Montezuma. He was married August 23, 1891 to Miss Nora Johnston and continued to live in Scott township practically all his life. To this union were born several children, three of whom, one daughter, Leta and two sons, Hazel and Lawrence and one grandson, Paul Anderson, having preceded him in death. (1926) Mr Hutchinson was a patient sufferer in his illness, covering a period of several months, although confined to his bed five weeks, and given every care and attention which loving hands could possibly give. Using his own words, he "went down the valley" Saturday morning March 6th at 2:00 o'clock at the age of fifty-eight years, two months and fifteen days, realizing that, "Rest comes at length, though life be long and dreary; the day must dawn and darksome night be past; all journeys end in welcome to the weary; and Heaven, the heart's true home, will come at last."
